Jan Clark has studies art in central Oregon and at Eastern Oregon State College and has continued expanding her skills through many workshops and experimentation.

Her reputation as an artist was originally founded on her love for nature. This includes birds, animals, and of course, the great outdoors. Growing up in beautiful Bend taught her at an early age the love of the outdoors and it's majestic beauty. Camping, hiking, fishing, and riding horses through out the Three Sisters mountains made a deep imprint on her. In recent years Jan has added some bold abstracts, mixed media collages, and acrylic layering to her repertoire. With these styles she uses hand-dyed papers, fibers, diffused ink pages, hand made stamps, and found items. "Batik Watercolor" has also caught her imagination. This is a lengthily and age-old process of using hand-made papers, watercolors, hot wax, and ink to produce an unpredictably intriguing work of art. Jan, along with Linda Peterson, Sue Orlaske, and Denise Elizabeth Stone have formed a tight knit group called "The Batik Convergence" who gather regularly sharing their ideas.

With whatever medium she is planning to use, she is constantly drawing, designing, painting and experimenting. She says, "It is in this daily experimentation and critiquing that the real growth occurs."

As an accomplished teacher, she is locally well known for her easy-to-follow pastel, watercolor, and oil classes. She has taught in La Grande at the La Grande Parks Department, Rainbows End, The Union Baker ESD, The La Grand Home School program, Arts Plus, The Mitre's Touch Gallery. Also, in Baker City, Oregon, and in Bend, Oregon.

Jan has also shown her work at "The Gallery" in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, The Wild Horse Gallery in Joseph, Oregon, The Pendleton Arts Show and The Wallowa County Arts Festival. Also, she has shown in La Grande, Oregon at The Bushwhack Gallery, and The Season's Faire.
